Salads And Dressings - Slaw - Turnip Slaw Recipes By Becky

5 small turnips
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup vinegar
4 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. parsley


Cook turnips; slice very thin. Drain well; keep hot.

In a saucepan, add eggs, sugar, vinegar and butter. Cook over low heat until thickened. Pour hot dressing over turnips. Garnish with parsley.




Turnip Slaw

1/2 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. red wine vinegar
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
2 cups shredded raw turnips


Mix sugar, salt, vinegar and mayonnaise and sour cream until well blended. Pour mayonnaise mixture over turnips and toss lightly to mix. Serve in bowl lined with salad greens and sprinkle paprika over top.




Turnip Slaw

shredded turnips
slivered green peppers
chopped onion
celery seed

Dressing:
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup oil
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup water

The amount of ingredients depends on quantity desired.



Turnip Slaw

1 gal. turnips, grate
1 1/2 cups white vinegar
3 cups sugar
4 Tbsp. salt
2 oz. horseradish
4 Tbsp. mustard seed


Mix vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, salt and horseradish. Pour over turnips and mix well. Let set one week.

This keeps a couple of days before it turns bitter, so don't make tons of it. 5 medium-size white turnips, peeled 1/2 cup mayonnaise 3 tablespoons sour cream 2 teaspoons tarragon vinegar 1 teaspoon prepared mustard 1 teaspoon sugar Pinch of salt 1/4 teaspoon celery seeds 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper 1/2 teaspoon dried dillweed or 1 teaspoon chopped fresh Slice turnips into very thin matchstick strips (julienne) and place into a large bowl. Add mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, mustard, sugar, salt, celery seeds, pepper and dill. Stir well until dressing is mixed and has coated the turnips. Refrigerate until serving
