Breakfastandbrunches - French Toast - Southern Pecan French Toast

Night Before:

French bread cut into 1 inch slices
6 whole eggs or egg substitute
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups milk and 1 1/2 cups half and half (may use fat free if desired)


Spray 9"x13" pan. Place bread slices in pan. Mix the above ingredients and pour over bread slices. Cover and refrigerate overnight.


In the Morning:

Mix a topping of:
1/2 cup soft butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons dark corn syrup
1 cup chopped pecans


Spread the topping over the bread slices. Bake at 350° until golden brown, about 40 minutes.

2 eggs 2 T plain or vanilla yogurt 2 C sweetened cereal, crushed (i.e. Frosted Flakes) 1/4 t cinnamon 4 slices bread Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly spray with Pam. Whisk together eggs, yogurt, cinnamon. Spread cereal on waxed paper. Coat bread with egg mixture, then cereal. Bake 12 min to crispy.
