Beansandgrains - Lentils - Lentil Soup By Nadine

1 lb. Hamburger
5 3/4 cups Tomato juice
4 cups Hot water
1 cup Uncooked lentils
1 cup Chopped celery
1 cup Diced carrots
1 cup Chopped cabbage
1/2 cup Chopped onion
1/2 tsp. Pepper
1 tsp. Salt
1 bay leaf


Brown meat and drain fat. Add all other ingredients. Bring to boil then simmer 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
Can put in crockpot and cook all day.

4 cups lentils 10 cups water 2 T. low-sodium chicken bouillon 1 onion, peeled 6 stalks celery 4 carrots 6 cloves garlic 2 T. olive oil 2 T. lemon juice salt and pepper to taste Combine all ingredients except the last three in a large soup kettle.
