Appetizers - Beef - Runza

1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium head of cabbage, shredded
1 (1 lb) loaf of frozen bread dough, or hot roll dough, thawed


Preheat oven to temperature specified on bread dough or hot roll dough.

Lightly grease a cookie sheet.

Brown beef in a skillet.

Remove beef and set aside.

Saute onion in drippings until lightly browned, then drain and reserve.

Discard drippings.

In a bowl, combine beef, onion and cabbage.

Tear off a chunk of bread or hot roll dough and flatten to about size of a small hamburger bun.

Place 1/4 cup beef mixture on top, and cover with another flattened dough ball.

Seal edges with a fork.

Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.

Repeat until dough and beef mixture is used.

Bake according to bread package directions, until tops are golden brown.

Remove from oven and brush tops with butter.
