6 baking potatoes
2 pounds cabbage -- diced
1/4 cup chives or scallion tops
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese -- grated

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.Peel and dice potatoes.

Put in pan with enough water to cover by 1" Bring to boil. Simmer 15 minutes or until tender; drain.

In another large saucepan, combine cabbage with enough water to cover by 1". Bring to boil. Simmer 10-12 minutes or until just tender; drain.

In large bowl, mash potatoes with butter. Add chives, cabbage, salt and pepper to taste.

Transfer mixture to 2 qtbaking dish. Sprinkle with Cheese.

Bake in for 35 minutes until heated through and cheese is melted.

450 g. (1 lb.) potatoes, coarsely chopped 60 g. (2 ozs. or 1/4 cup) butter 1 large onion, thinly sliced 250 g. (1/2 lb.) cabbage, finely sliced Salt and pepper to taste 2/3 cup grated tasty Cheddar cheese. Preheat oven to 180ºC (350ºF) Brush 23 cm. (9") pie dish with oil. Place potatoes in pan; cover with cold water. Bring to the boil, reduce heat, simmer, uncovered, for 8 minutes or until just tender. Remove from heat and drain. Rinse under cold water and drain again. Transfer potatoes to bowl, mash coarsely with fork. Heat butter in pan.
