Snacks - Tandoori Nuts

1/2 cup low fat plain yogurt
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
3 tbsp. curry powder
2 tbsp. cumin
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cardamom
3/4 tsp. ground hot red pepper or cayenne
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 lb. nuts, pecans, walnuts, or a combination of both


Preheat oven to 275° F.

Combine yogurt, butter, and spices in a large bowl. Add pecans and
walnuts, toss in mix till nuts are well coated. Spread nuts in a large,
shallow baking pan.Bake nuts uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour or till nuts are golden. Cool comletely.

Store in tightly covered container.

These nuts are spicy, but look like they might be sweet. Careful when serving these around children.

Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat. Add pecans; cook until lightly browned, about 3 minutes. Add brown sugar; cook until lightly carmelized, about 3 minutes. Stir in cumin, chili powder and paprika. Add vinegar; cook until all liquid has evaporated, 1 to 2 minutes. Season with salt. Spread pecans on baking sheet. Bake until crisp, about 3-5 minutes;
