Snacks - Pet Treats - Terrific Dog Bone Treats

2 1/2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 tsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 cup margarine
1 egg
1/2 cup skim milk
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter

Preheat oven to 350°F.

In a large mixing bowl stir whole-wheat flour well with sugar and salt. Melt the margarine in a microwave or pot. In another bowl whisk together the margarine, egg, milk and peanut butter until smooth and no lumps appear. Pour into the flour mixture and mix well. Using your hands gently knead the dough a couple of minutes until it is evenly moist.

Form the dough into a ball and place on a floured surface. Roll out to 1/2" thick. Using a knife or dog bone shaped cookie cutter cut out shapes. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake in the centre of oven until golden, about 30 minutes. Cool and store in an airtight container in a cool dry place or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, or freeze.
