Snacks - Orange Popcorn Balls

1 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/4 cup water
1 cup orange marmalade
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 tsp. vinegar
5 qts. popcorn

Combine sugar, water, marmalade, salt, corn syrup and vinegar in saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Cook to hardball stage or 250 degrees on candy thermometer.

Pour over popcorn slowly; mix thoroughly. Shape into 2 1/2 inch balls with buttered hands.

Yield 15 balls

Note: black popcorn balls can be made by substituting one 6 ounce package of licorice sticks cut in small pieces, for orange marmalade.

1 stick butter1 cup brown sugar1/2 cup corn syrup1 cup white chocolate chips1 cup craisins (or other dried fruit) Mix butter, brown sugar and corn syrup in a pot over low heat and mix and cook until the mixture starts bubbling around the sides. Then cook it for 5 minutes more and turn it off. Pour the mixture over the popcorn and mix it well to coat all the popcorn. Mix in white chocolate chips and Craisins. Combine sugar, corn syrup, water and salt in a medium saucepan. Cook over low heat until sugar is dissolved, stirring gently.
