Pies - Sugar - Jeff Davis Pie

1 3/4 cups white sugar
1 tbls. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
dash ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tbls. vanilla extract
1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell


Mix together the sugar, flour and spices. Stir in butter. Beat in eggs and add milk and vanilla. Mix well.

Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake 10 to 15 minutes at 400 ° F. Reduce heat to 350 ° and bake 30 minutes more or until pie sets.

Granny would have used the following for spices -- not pumpkin pie spice that we have now:
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
