Fruit - Apple Slump

6 cups Peeled, sliced apples
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1 cup white sugar
1 cup boiling water
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter or margarine

Combine apples, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon, and 1/2 cup water in a saucepan.Cover with a tight fitting lid and heat to boiling.

In a medium bowl, sift together 1 1/2 cup flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in enough milk to make a soft dough. Drop dough onto apples and cover. Simmer over low heat for 30 minutes. Do not lift cover until done.Serve with nutmeg sauce.

To make nutmeg sauce: In a saucepan, mix 1 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon
flour. Stir in 1 cup boiling water and cook, stirring constantly until sauce bubbles. Add butter and simmer gently 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in nutmeg.

Serve over each serving of apple slump.

Makes 1 - 9 inch pie

1 spice cake mix 1 can apple pie filling 4 eggs 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 cup chopped nuts (I used walnuts) topping: 4TBSP. margarine 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup flour 1/2 tsp cinnamon Mix first 6 ingredients together, spread into 9x13 inch pan sprayed with cooking spray. Mix topping ingredients together with a pastry blender sprinkle over cake mixture. Bake @ 350º for 40-45 minutes or till tester comes out clean.

2 1/2 cup flour 1 cup Crisco (shortening) 2/3 cup crushed corn flakes 1 Tbl. sugar 1 egg, separated 1 tsp. salt milk 5 cups peeled and sliced apples 1 1/2 cup sugar, mixed with 1 tsp. cinnamon butter pats and vanilla 1 cup powdered (confectioners') sugar 1 Tbl. lemon juice Sift together flour, sugar (1 T.) and salt; cut in Crisco. Put egg yolk into measuring cup and add milk to equal 2/3 cup. Add to flour/shortening mixture. Mix just enough so dough shapes into a ball. (Divide) Roll out half of dough to 15x11 rectangle, transfer to baking sheet.
