Fruit - Apple - Rum Apple Butter

8 apples - peeled, cored and chopped
4 cups white sugar
3 tablespoons rum
4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt


Fill a slow cooker with diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Cover, and cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 12 hours, or until thick and dark golden in color.

Fill small jars with hot apple butter, leaving about 3/4 inch space at the top.

2 cups rhubarb, cut in 1/2-inch pieces 2 large, tart apples (Granny Smith) 1/2 cup sugar 1 Tablespoon flour Topping: 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup quick cooking oats 1/2 cup cold butter 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 cup chopped nuts Mix first 4 ingredients together in 8-inch baking dish.Blend all tpooing ingredients except nuts until crumbly. Stir in nuts. Sprinkle over top of fruit mixture. Bake at 350' for 50 or until fruit is done and top is crisp and brown. Serves about 6.
