Fruit - Apple - Make Ahead Party Apple Salad

Dressing:
1/4 c. sugar
2 T. flour
1 c. water
2 T. vinegar
1 t. vanilla
1 T. butter

Salad:
3 red apples
1 c. miniature marshmallows
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. drained crushed pineapple
1/2 c. raisins


Mix all dressing ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and cool.

When dressing is cool, pour over fruit mixture and toss lightly. Refrigerate over night.

Fold in 1 cup cool whip when ready to serve.

8-10 each Maine apples of any cooking variety 4 each sticks of cinnamon, 3 long To taste sugar or Maine maple syrup As needed water Wash the apples, peel and cut into thick slices or chunks. Place in saucepan, add the cinnamon sticks, and then almost cover with cold water. Cook over low to medium heat, stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Cook until soft. Remove from heat, add sweetener of choice. Serve hot or cooled.
