Desserts - Doughnuts - Doughnuts With Sweet Milk

4 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
5 Tablespoons melted shortening
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs


Beat the eggs. Add the sugar slowly to the eggs, beating constantly. Stir in the milk and the melted shortening.

In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir the flour mixture into the egg mixture. Roll the dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut with 2 inch doughnut cutter.

Fry the doughnuts in hot oil at 370 F.- 375 F. Brown the doughnuts on both sides. Drain the doughnuts on paper towels. Roll the doughnuts in cinnamon sugar. Makes about 3 dozen doughnuts.
