4 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp nutmeg
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter, softened
3 lg eggs
3/4 to 1 cup buttermilk

Sift together dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time beating well. Add buttermilk. Stir in dry ingredients gradually. Chill the dough over night in refridge in a covered bowl.

4 c. milk -- warmed 10 Tbsp. sugar 1/2 c. veg. oil 1 Tbsp. salt 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 8 c. flour 7 Tbsp. dry yeast (seven) Place warmed milk in a large bow. Add other ingredients with yeast last. Knead until well blended. This is a soft dough. Roll out 1/2 inch thick, cut into squares or cirles. Place on floured cookie sheets. Heat deep fryer to 375 deg., fry 4 at a time. When brown on one side, turn and cook on the other side. Drain on paper towel. Glaze or fill and cover one side with chocolate glaze. 2-3

1 1/2 C. Flour 1 C. Sugar, divided 1 3/4 t. Baking Powder 1/2 t. Salt 1/2 t. Nutmeg 1/2 C. Shortening 1 Egg, beaten 1/4 C. Milk 1 C. Grated Apples 1/4 C. Melted Butter 1 t. Cinnamon Mix together flour, 1/2 C. Sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Stir in egg and milk.Fold in grated apples. Fill greased muffin cups 1/2 full.Bake at 350° for 15-25 minutes (depending on the size of the muffin tins).Cool slightly. Remove from pans and dip tops in melted butter, then in remaining 1/2 C. sugar combined with cinnamon.
