Desserts - Apple Donuts

3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. milk
1 c. grated apples
1 c. melted butter
1 c. sugar
2 TBS. cinnamon

Combine first 5 ingredients; cut in shortening until size of small crumbs. Add eggs, milk and apples. Stir just enough to moisten. Fill well-greased muffin tins about half full. Bake at 350* for 20 minutes.

While still hot from oven, dip donuts in melted butter, then roll in mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Makes 3-4 doz.

5 TBS. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1 egg 1-1/2 c. flour 2-1/4 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 c. milk 6 TBS. butter, melted Sugar and cinnamon mixture (4 TBS.sugar to 2 tsp. cinnamon). Cream butter and sugar; add egg and mix well. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; add creamed mixture alternately with milk. Fill greased muffin tins half full. Bake at 350* for 20-25 minutes. Take out of pan immediately. Roll in melted butter, then in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Makes about 14.

6 egg yolks 2 tablespoons sour cream 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 jigger of whisky 2 cups flour - more if dough is too soft cooking oil for deep frying. Mix all ingredients together. Roll dough very thinly. Cut into strips about 2 1/2" wide. Cut these into 3" pieces. Cut a small slit in the centre and turn inside out. Fry in deep fat. Dough will bubble a bit. Turn over and cook for 1 minute longer on the other side. When cool, sprinkle with confectioners sugar. Angel wings - Baked 3 cups flour
