Cookies - Formed - Molasses Cookies

3/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup sugar
2 cup flour
2 tsp soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger

Cream shortening, sugar and molasses until fluffy. Add egg. Add sifted dry ingredients to cream mixture and blend thoroughly. Form into 1 inch balls and dip in sugar. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and flatten with fork. Bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes.

8 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup flour 1 cup walnuts -- finely chopped Preheat oven to 300. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add flour and mix on low speed until well blended. Stir in walnuts. Roll into small balls (1 rounded tsp). Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 300 for 30 minutes or more. To test doneness, take one cookie and cut in 1/2. There should be no doughy strip in the middle. Roll in confectioners sugar while hot. Then, cool on cookie sheet.
