Cookies - Formed Cookies Pferrernuesse By Becky

2 lb dark brown sugar
6 beaten eggs
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp black pepper
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
4 tbsp molasses
about 4 c flour
2 tbsp walnuts (or less), halved


Beat eggs, then gradually add brown sugar. Sift flour, baking powder and spices together. Add molasses and flour mixture to egg batter. If needed, knead flour in, adding more if necessary. The dough will be very stiff or hard.

Using walnut sized balls of dough, flatten it in your hand and wrap it around 1/2 of a walnut.

Bake at 350 until golden brown, about 15 minutes. May be rolled in powdered sugar after baking, if desired. Flavor improves if allowed to wait two weeks before heating.
