Candy - Candied Dates

1/2 pound dates
1 cup sugar
3/4 cups water
1/8 teaspoon cream of tarter


Put each date on the end of an orange stick.

Mix sugar and cream of tarter, add water, and stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil and cook until syrup threads when dropped from tip of spoon. Remove from heat.

Dip each date in the syrup to cover, then place on an oiled plate to cool.

It also says you can do this with 1/2 pound of shelled walnut.

Filling: 8 oz. cream cheese 1 cup butter 2 tsp. Vanilla 2 pounds powdered sugar (2 boxes) Coating: 2 bags (12 oz. each) semi-sweet chocolate chips 2 Tbl. Butter Cream butter and cream cheese until smooth; add vanilla and mix well. Add powdered sugar, one box at a time, and mix thoroughly. Cover filling and refrigerate until firm enough to roll into balls (about an hour or two). After filling is chilled, roll into small balls (or big if you want a lot of filling).
