Sift and mix together:
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups flour

Cut in 1 tsp. butter. then add 1 med can fruit cocktail and 1 well beaten egg.

turn out into a rectangular pan and top with 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup nuts. Bake at 350' 40-45 minutes

BARB'S FRUITCOCKTAIL CAKE

1 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. soda 1/4 tsp. salt
Add 1 slightly beaten egg
1 can well drained fruit cocktail
Spread in greased 8' pan

Sprinkle with 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup chopped nuts.

Cake: 1-1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup sweetened coconut 2 cups flour 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. soda 1 (15 to 16 ounce) can fruit cocktail with juice Frosting: 1 stick margarine 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup canned milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup chopped nuts 1/2 grated coconut Cake: Preheat oven to 350 F. Beat sugar, eggs and oil together. Mix flour, salt and soda and add to egg mixture. Add fruit cocktail and juice. Mix well. Pour batter into greased and floured 9-by-13 inch pan. Sprinkle coconut over the batter. Bake in preheated oven

4 c. applesauce 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 1/2 c. shortening 4 c. flour 4 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1-2 tsp. cinnamon 1-2 tsp. nutmeg 1 lb. (2 c.) raisins 1 lb. (2 c.) chopped dates 1 lb. mixed candied fruit 2 c. chopped nuts Heat applesauce. Add sugar and shortening while cooking; cool til just warm. Add all other ingredients; pour into greased and floured loaf pans. Bake at 300 degrees for about 1 1/2-2 hours or until tests done with toothpick. Do not overcook. If desired, brush tops with melted butter while still warm.
