Bread - Sweet Bread Almond Poppy Seed Bread

3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/8 cups oil
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 tsp. butter flavoring
2 Tbsp. poppyseeds
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 large eggs
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract


Preheat oven to 350° F. and grease 2 loaf pans.

Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl until well blended. Pour into 2 well greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes.

When done, remove from oven and poke holes in the tops of the loaves with a toothpick and pour glaze over. Let sit in loaf pans for 45 minutes. Remove and cool completely.

Wrap and store in airtight container!


Glaze:
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 tsp. butter flavoring
1/2 tsp. almond extract
3/4 cup powdered sugar

8 oz. (225g) Almonds* 4 oz. ( 110g) Plain Flour 4 oz. (110g) Caster (Superfine) Sugar 4 Egg Whites Beat egg whites ‘till very stiff. Add caster sugar – beat. Fold in sifted flour and almonds. Spoon into small oblong loaf pan and bake at 180ºC (360ºF) for 45 minutes. Allow to cool in pan. Wrap in foil and leave for 48 hours. Slice very thin, spread on wire rack and dry in moderate oven. Watch carefully. * Can use other nuts, ie: Pecans, Walnuts, Peanuts, or a mixture of nuts. Macadamia Nuts are beautiful but difficult to slice.
