Beansandgrains - Sandwiches Jamaican Burgers

1 1/2 cups chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 1/2 cups cooked black beans, (15 oz can)
1 1/2 cups cooked rice
1/2 habanero pepper, or other chile
1 teaspoon salt
Ground black pepper
4 slices stale bread, or toasted bread, pulsed in processor to crumbs
2 teaspoons canola oil
4 hamburger buns, low calorie

Saute onions in 1 tsp oil for 5 minutes, until soft.

Add garlic, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg and saute for 2 moreminutes.

Place mixture into a food processor.

Add beans, rice, and chile pepper. Pulse to chop Ingredients. (Do not puree.)

Mix with bread crumbs, and add salt and pepper. If mixtureis too wet, add more bread crumbs.

Form into patties.

Cook patties in hot pan about 4 minutes per side until a dark crust forms.

Serve on rolls with condiments of choice.
